Fish Teeth is a proudly self-proclaimed "anti-hook and anti-genre" artist. Among his many influences, Fish still pulls a lot of his songwriting style from Seattle's rich grunge history. What I love especially about Fish's music is his self-awareness. Fish is willing to critique social dynamics and norms that many are too afraid to speak on–e.g. the role toxic masculinity plays on the identity of trans men, and glorification of suffering in musicians. One of the things I love most about documenting the music scene is seeing how musicians evolve. In such a short amount of time, Fish Teeth grew from a very strong debut as a songwriter to a fully self-realized performer. I look forward to seeing him again.
